Mrs. Leighanne Wamble,
Principal

I started my career in education in Tennessee as an ELA teacher and basketball coach. My husband and I married and moved to Mississippi and we have been here for 23 years. I have taught ELA, managed a teacher recruitment grant program, served as a parent liaison, and been an assistant principal as well.

My husband Chris is an administrator at DeSoto Central Middle School. My son Easton is a senior at Desoto Central High. We live in Southaven. I came to work at DeSoto Central when Easton was two. He likes to say he bleeds purple and gold. He has certainly never known anything but being a Jaguar.

I grew up on a farm in a small town in West Tennessee. I have three older brothers. I went to college at Union University and to graduate school at Ole Miss.

I enjoy watching Easton play golf and attending sporting events whenever we can. We love to travel as a family. I enjoy reading, cooking, and attempting to keep the plants and flowers in my yard alive.

Assistant Principal

I am extremely excited to be the assistant principal at DeSoto Central Primary School! I have 24 years in education, all with DeSoto County Schools. My career began in 1999 at DeSoto Central Elementary. I was a 3rd-grade grade teacher for six years. Following that, I taught 5th-grade grade math and science for thirteen years at Pleasant Hill Elementary School.

The last five years have been spent as the school testing coordinator and interventionist at DeSoto Central Middle School. My undergraduate degree is in elementary education from The University of Mississippi. My master's degree is in educational leadership from Arkansas State University.

My husband, John, and I are the parents of three children and also have a precious grandbaby. We currently reside in Hernando. I am looking forward to a great year at DCPS!
